Both options have distinct uses and limitations, and a combined approach can optimise results while preserving natural tooth structure.
In today's world, patients increasingly desire a harmonious, perfect smile. Having an attractive appearance impacts self-esteem and can influence professional and social performance. As such, dentists strive to provide aesthetically pleasing yet functional treatments to meet patients' needs.
Two leading solutions are ceramic veneers and injectable resin composites. Those can be used separately or combined for optimal aesthetic and functional outcomes.
Ceramic Veneers are thin shells bonded to the front surfaces of teeth. Usually, they offer superb aesthetics by mimicking natural enamel's light reflection, translucency, texture and shape. Highly biocompatible, ceramic is stain resistant and maintains a smooth surface and shiny to prevent plaque accumulation and seems so natural.

Injectable resins suit mild aesthetic issues like small chips, small changes in shape, discolouration or spacing and they provide a cost-effective "trial smile" before any irreversible treatment.
For more extensive functional rehabilitation involving significant tooth structure loss, crowns may be more appropriate, but even in those cases, flowable injectable resins can be a good transitional solution.
Sometimes In complex cases, clinicians may combine ceramic veneers on visible teeth with injectable resins on less visible teeth. This combined approach optimises aesthetics and functionality while conserving natural tooth structure and preventing opposing tooth wear.
